The Zurich ColourLight Center (CLC) designs and conducts research projects, performs services, plans and carries out events / exhibitions and is involved in international conferences on the subject of colour and light, focussing on the interactions between coloured surfaces, space and light. The CLC is also the advice and contact point for teaching projects, continuing education events and workshops in colour and light.

As a core subject, the center has been attached to the Institute for Design and Technology since 2008 and it co-operates with the Institute for Art Education / IAE, both institutes being part of the Zurich University of the Arts [Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK)]. While it has had different names and staff, the CLC has been headed by Prof. Ulrich Bachmann for more than 10 years.
